Web Design Carlton - FAQ

We have added some commonly asked questions about web design below but if the information you are looking for is not here then please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • Our prices start at £200 for a basic website package which would be ideal for a small startup business just looking for a couple of pages and a contact form. For a 10 page brochure style website the price would be £400. Every business is different though and we like to have a good understanding of your needs and requirements before we make any recommendations.

  • That largely depends on the client. Building a website is done in stages, initially we agree the requirements and features of the website. The client will usually have a list of items they must supply following this meeting which may include images, logos, lists of products, information about the staff and the company, references from customers etc. The Web Designer will also submit ideas for the design and layout which the client will need to approve. Once the information is supplied and the designs are approved then the website can be built. For a small site this can all take place in less than a week but usually it will take a couple of weeks. For larger sites it can take several weeks. If you have a deadline please let us know and we can build a plan to ensure we hit your deadline.

  • Yes. We usually ask for 50% on commencement of the project and the balance when you sign off on completion of the design. For larger projects this figure is negotiable.

  • Yes, we offer a fully managed service. Many clients purchase a content management system for their website so they can update it themselves. Many then discover just how much work is involved in keeping a website looking fresh and loaded with new content all of the time. Or the person who was doing it leaves the company and the website just gets forgotten. Nothing looks worse on a company website than a news section with a 2 year old story as the last entry, or Merry Christmas pictures in the middle of August. With prices starting at just £15 per month for a managed service it could work out cheaper than buying the content management service.

  • When you build a brand new site, it will not automatically appear on Google or other search engines immediately. As part of our standard build we always make your site search engine friendly, we follow good practice and make it as easy as possible for search engines to index and display your site. We produce sitemaps and submit your site for indexing. Over time your site will start to display in search engine results. If you rely on search engines for new business then this will not be enough and you will need to think about paid for advertising (pay per click) or search engine optimisation (SEO) We can help you on either or both as part of an ongoing strategy.

  • We will discuss this with you at our first meeting and the answer is generally Yes, you should be using social media. The real question to ask is How should you best use social media. It can be used effectively to engage with existing customers and either drive more business or offer support. It can also be used to find new business. We can show you how to set up accounts and effective strategies to use to achieve your goals.
